Graffiti x Styling Pleats Skirt

Hi readers!
How do you do today? Good I hope. This style post is sort of an impromptu set of pictures taken by a co-worker today. You probably know I am currently on internship and just outside the building where I work is this wall covered in graffiti. I am a fan of art and everything arty. I have always been impressed with painting and graffiti which is a form of wall painting happens to be one of my favorite. It’s amazing how a couple of globs can result into beauty and communicate with the viewers.

Graffiti are writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or painted illicitly on a wall or other surface, often within public view. They range from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and they have existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.

In modern times, paint (particularly spray paint) and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials. In most countries, marking or painting property without the property owner’s permission is considered defacement and vandalism, which is a punishable crime. – Wikipedia

Graffiti may also express underlying messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti styles. This particular graffiti spells out the name of my place of work and was painted by Tobi Oke aka 9jartitude. He is a really good artist and one of the most hilarious and down to Earth people I know.

Today’s outfit happens to be a white T-shirt, one of my wardrobe’s staples and a pleated black skirt. Both of which I have had since 2013 but only worn four times. The signature glasses featured too. Respect the four eyes lol. My personal style is casual most times. You know that feeling when you have a couple of favorite clothes and sort of leave the rest chilling in your wardrobe? Yep, that one. I’ve got my hair in cornrows at the moment. That type we rocked in primary and didn’t want to show it, hence the hat came to play.

Might make this wall my favorite picture background before internship ends. By the way, I’ve got a couple of style posts in my drafts. Shall we put them up? I just might. Funny how I have been using that ‘might’ word a lot these days.

Pleated skirts are trendy for sure and here is my take on it. I would rock it with a crop top if I were to restyle it. Soooooo, have you ever seen graffiti somewhere apart from in a movie? How would you rock this skirt? Would you leave out the hat or a different T-shirt? Comment below.
