Nineteen And Overwhelmed

nineteen and overwhelmed

Hi darlings!
Over the past weeks I noticed but didn’t pay attention to the fact that there were no new comments on the blog. Just thought it was a normal thing. However Nedoux and Adaeze brought it to my attention recently that they had difficulty commenting on blog posts. Thank you so much. Discovered there was an issue with my old theme which has been resolved now. How do you like the new theme? Kindly go through previous posts and leave your comments, pretty please? I’d love to hear from you and oh, still contemplating that giveaway.

Back to the real post, you might wonder why nineteen and overwhelmed for a caption. Well, I have heard of something called tears of joy before and the last time I cried such was the day I got my JAMB admission letter after being told about 75% failed.

However, on Sunday 7th of August, I cried again in church, tears of joy. Overwhelmed with the love God has for me, for keeping me alive for nineteen years. I mean I remember one time when I was about six years old, I was playing in my nanny’s bedroom and there was a button missing on the controller of the standing fan. Being a curious somebody, I dipped my finger into the hole while the fan was on.

I can never forget that day because it birthed my fear for electricity really. I could have died that day but God kept me for a reason. There are several occasions I almost lost my life too. And I’m grateful for life. 2015 was a tough year really, ups and downs, betrayals, pain, heart break, frustration, moments of depression. But all these make me a stronger, more confident and better girl.

So now I’m nineteen, how do I feel like? No different from the days before August 6 really. Just conscious of the fact that more work has to be done before my next birthday.

And oh, this is an admonition for someone out there who might have given up on writing, having writer’s block or thinking of giving up on writing. I had a moment of frustration last week when I thought of how frustrating it can be to get a publisher to publish your work. I mean it’s tiring and you’d begin to wonder if you’re any good of a writer really. So I’m telling you now, you are a good writer, don’t stop believing that and don’t stop writing.

I appreciate and love you all very much. I’m glad I got another year to dedicate to the blog especially to you my readers. Thanks to those who wished me a happy birthday on Instagram and Snapchat (@mystique_dammy). The love was really overwhelming! *brings out handkerchief*

Lol don’t mind me. Who’s coming for the The Bloggers’ Brunch?? Whoop whoop! I’ll be there. I’m excited really. Can’t wait to see some of your beautiful and handsome faces. My darling Yetty Salimon just launched her collection of turbans and you should check out her African wears. Totally creative. Stay good and make use of the rest of August positively. Believe! ❤
