Open Letter: Dear Future Husband

Dear future husband

Dear Future Husband,

If all has gone as planned, it is probably 2024 and we are newlyweds. I salute your persistence and the fact that we have made it this far. I can be stubborn and annoying I know, so me rocking your surname must have taken a lot of effort.

Did you propose in the public? Did I faint? I always imagined I would. We had that moderate wedding I suppose. Was my wedding dress a stunner like I imagined? Honeymoon in Paris too? Hahaha.

As we set out on this journey of forever, I pray God takes complete charge. I have been praying for our marriage even before it happened. Why? Because being married is not easy. There is so much I have heard, read about and seen.

We will have our ups and downs and moments we’d get tired of it all but so long as you are trying, I am trying too. I am not a quitter and neither should you be.

I am ambitious husband but also a chicken. I have dreams bigger than I can imagine and intend to achieve a lot. Support me and I will have your back too.

Husband, I want to see the world. Travel to places, have a shelf filled with awards, another with books and to be a name to reckon with while impacting lives positively.

We will do a lot together love, achieve a lot. I cannot promise to be a perfect wife because I don’t know what perfection is. I can however be understanding, to communicate and be patient.

Yes, I am complicated and yet I am not. I am crazy and yet sweet. My mood swings are terrible and yet I have my fun sides. Looking forward to being goofy, naughty and yet serious with you.

When the time is right, we will make beautiful children. We will have all the time for them and raise them to be the best of what they want to be. I look forward to having cute children that are artistic and yet smart, a combination of the both of us. We will raise them well and growing old together would be fun.

Yes, your wardrobe is our wardrobe. I cannot promise I won’t wear your clothes more than I wear mine. Can’t promise not to get mad if you complain books litter the house. I will support you and be your biggest cheerleader. But I cannot promise not to kick you out of bed in the middle of the night or be an attention hoarding somebody.

I cannot make promises really as I don’t know how life would actually play out. Things won’t be perfect always but so long as the vow to stay together binds us, we will work things out. I look forward to being married to you.

Yours sincerely,
Wifey.
