Casual Street Style Featuring o21 Designs

One term that defines my type of style best is casual and if you randomly run into me in public, you can bet on me having jeans and a T-shirt on except on Sundays and special occasions. Through the course of being a student, having to go for lectures made casual style almost too convenient and I must say I have become used to it. Today’s blog post is about casual street style featuring o21 designs.

o21 designs is a Nigerian brand into graphics, corporate branding, customized T-shirts and creating creative solutions. They are based in Lagos Nigeria but however provide deliverable items. They make branded items such as mugs and souvenirs as well, on both small and large scale.

Custom T-shirts design started in the early 1950s when some companies in Miami started decorating T-shirts with the names of local resorts and other tourist attractions. Custom T-shirts in recent times are used as a medium of expression and passing information through which individuals can express their political and social views, advocate for causes, or just to amuse people.

Still journeying on the natural hair lane, this T-shirt had my heart with the caption. The quality is top notch and it is super comfortable. This caption says everything, answering questions from those moments I have been questioned on why my hair is not relaxed or why did I choose to go natural. I have been natural for over two years now and honestly, there are days being natural is blissful and other days it’s just plain annoying.

My hair shrinks a lot and can be difficult to maintain which makes me put it in protective styles most times. However, I discovered leave in conditioner is super great in softening it up. It is my choice to go natural after all and I intend to enjoy the process all the way even on its bad days. Trust me, I have had some of those days in which you try out a YouTube tutorial and it comes out like nothing you watched your favorite YouTuber do. Who can relate?

Casual Street Style Featuring o21 Designs

I styled the inscription T-shirt with track pants which was a trend last year and paired it up with sneakers because casual is the way. The sunglasses was last minute accessory. How cute are my earrings from Nigerian jewellery brand Zivanora? You can style the T-shirt with other pants or skirt color as white goes with everything. Plus the caption T-shirt is available in other colors. Other ways to style this T-shirt includes; with a skirt and flats, with a skirt plus a jacket with high heels, with jeans with flats or sandals and with dungarees and sandals.

As an advocate of supporting Nigerian brands, I rate this T-shirt 10/10 as I really love it and would gladly order more and so should you too. Side story, the pictures in this post were all taken by my dad and he had so much fun at it that it brought back memories of him introducing me to photography when I was younger. Could you tell the pictures were taken at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos? The place is really cool and a great site for taking pictures although the bus station officials told us to keep our camera at a point.

Zaful Valentine Inspired Female Outfits

Valentine’s Day is perhaps one of the annual celebrations a lot of people worldwide look forward to and it being a celebration of love, the colors red and white are synonymous with it. Personally, I am a fan of St. Valentine’s Day and I look forward to it every year with glee like a child’s. The story of how the day came to be varies but the essence of sharing love to all remains constant.

Zaful currently has a Valentine’s Day deals going on. Besides that, you stand the chance of winning a free round trip to your dream destination for Zaful Valentine’s Day 2018 between February 1 to 14. Sounds exciting yes? You can view the details and participate on their Instagram page. If you will be celebrating like many people across the world, these Zaful Valentine inspired female casual outfits will be great for an outing.

The Plunge One Piece Swimsuit

Going on a getaway or have swimming or beach plans this Valentine’s Day? This red swimsuit will have you feeling like a million bucks. I particularly like the plunge cut, as it leaves a little bit skin showing. It is made of spandex and wire free. This makes it easy to be paired with jeans and turned into a casual look. Pair with espadrilles or flats and you’re good to go.

Off Shoulder Embroidered Crop Top with Shorts

I have been a big fan of off-shoulder outfits since 2016 and still am. This outfit is perfect for a casual Valentine outing especially if you’re not a big fan of red. The shorts give freedom and the off-shoulder style helps show off the shoulders, not to mention the lovely embroidery made on the matching shorts and top.

High Contrast Cut Out Valentine Mini Dress

If you ever feel like showing off legs in heels, a mini dress is the go to outfit. This mini dress has hearts design all over which make it perfect for Valentine’s Day as the theme is love. Pair with a clutch and heels for the perfect look or ditch the heels and wear a sneakers for more comfort.

Gauzy Floral Embroidered Top and Mini Skirt Set

One word for this outfit? Hot! The fact that this outfit is two piece makes it possible to restyle in various ways. It is made of cotton and polyester which are two very light and breezy materials. The embroidery design is all shades of gorgeous. It is high waisted and perfect for a casual but chic look.

Bowknot Tube Lace Mini Dress

zaful bowknot lace tube dress

For the female not interested in wearing red, this pink dress will look extremely good as well. The knot sleeves create a form of off-shoulder design that will show off your arms. The asymmetrical design and lace material makes the tube dress one that would be easy and comfortable to wear.

Open Back Mini Cami Dress

This red open back mini dress has spaghetti straps for comfort and is great for a casual Valentine dinner. Show off your legs by pairing with black heels and clutch with accessories or a choker for a more girly look.

Spaghetti Strap Ruched Asymmetric Bodycon Dress

A bodycon dress is an essential that should be in every lady’s wardrobe. This wine ruched polyester dress is perfect for a Valentine’s Day party or turning up in the club after main celebration. It brings out body curves, has spaghetti straps and provides comfort in the hot weather. Add a bit of sophistication to the outfit with heels and you’ll be turning heads.

If I were to pick an outfit to rock on Valentine’s Day, I would go with the Gauzy Floral Set as it switch from a casual day to a night outfit. There are other outfits available in the Zaful Valentine’s Day sale and free delivery on orders above $30. Head over to their site to shop for these outfits, accessories and more.

The best part of posting here is getting your feedback and comments. How are you celebrating Valentine’s this year? Which of these outfits would you wear for Valentine’s Day? Male readers, which would you love your girl to rock? How would you style the outfits? Check out my Valentine’s Day music playlist for some music inspiration. Ciao!

Five Female Nigerian Lifestyle Bloggers I Currently Love

A lifestyle blog is what I like to describe as a bouquet of fun posts that are captivating and about the life and experience of the bloggers who run the blog. So I have been in this blogging thing seriously for little over a year and I follow a lot of blogs, some of which I am a big fan of and some which I stop by once in a while.

Although I have more than five lifestyle blogs I am loving right now, the five female Nigerian lifestyle blogs which tops the list are as follows:

Kachi Tila-Adesina had my heart right from the fact that she finished from my school, The University of Ibadan and holds two first class law degrees, she also happens to live in the city so dear to me, London. She is a lawyer by day and blogger by night. Her blog name was coined from her name and her husband’s. How sweet right? Kachi writes about life and everything in between. I particularly love her inter-ethnic marriages, interviews and travel columns. It’s beautiful how she shows that it is possible to be married to someone from a different culture and be happy. I am lowkey waiting for when she’d start blogging about her fashion though ’cause she’s got style!

Portable Is The New Hot

I laughed so hard the day I discovered her blog due to the blog name, thanks to The Blogger Point weekly forum. Mide Adeoti happens to be my birthday mate and resident in Abuja, which is another city I intend to explore soon. Portable is the New Hot is mostly a motivational blog although she lets in peeks of her life now and then. Her blog is totally addictive and I get my dose of weekly Monday motivation from it.

Danie blogs about beauty, fashion and lifestyle. Her college and women hacks are my favorite parts of her blog. She and Mide had this girl talk column a while back and I really loved it.

Rosegal Wishlist: Casual Outfits and More

Hi readers!

Welcome to yet another style related post, catch up on previous posts from my style archive right here. Sharing some of the casual outfits and more I have my eyes and heart on from the Rosegal website.

Rosegal was started by a group of friends who all share a deep and abiding passion for stunning clothing and fashion. By seamlessly offering both styles of clothing, shoes and accessories, they aim not only to capture the imagination but also the hearts of their customers.

They particularly offer a range of affordable clothing for plus size ladies. Finding perfect outfits for plus size ladies can be a problem, thus they offer plus size dresses for different occasions such as parties, swimming and for night wearing purpose. Plus you do not have to spend heavily to look beautiful and elegant. The site also has clothing for males and offers free shipping for purchases.

Embroidery canvas shoes

This happens to be in trend at the moment and I really would love a white pair. It would go well with jeans (particularly ripped) and a casual top which is my go to outfit almost every day.

Embroidery block tie up heels

Still on the love for the embroidery trend, I happen to really like open toe block heels. Compared to normal court heels or pumps, I’d rather have black high heels with block heels as they are more comfortable for me.

Vintage party dress

My love for vintage wears can’t be quantified. One thing I really love about this dress is the tulle floral material. It would be great for an evening event as well as a wedding guest look if you’re trying to look different. Plus purple happens to be one of my favorite colors.

One shoulder floor length dress

One word for this dress? Gorgeous! The one shoulder design, color and the length would make this a great choice as a dinner or evening wear. The rhinestone details on the chest makes it even more stunning.

Khaki high waisted pants

This pants is shape flattering and I have a feeling my legs will look great in them. I am a big fan of high waisted trousers and the narrow belt at the waist makes this totally wish worthy.

Black envelope cross bag

A black cross body completes the look for an outfit. The simplicity and style of this envelope bag makes it so easy to pair with different outfits.

Tags: Recognition Award + College Struggles

Hi readers!
Thank you for checking this post out on this Monday afternoon. How are you today? Fine I hope. The weather in Ibadan at the moment seems to be confused. One moment it is so hot and the next it’s raining heavily. How wonderful. I was tagged by Aramide of Portable is the new hot for the Bloggers Recognition Award. I was earlier nominated for one here please check out the post. If you’re new here, welcome welcome. Glad to have you here. Please look around and get settled in.

blogger recognition award

I was also tagged by Oyinlola of Hazy Fantasies in her college struggle post. You can read about hers on her blog. I am to write about my college struggle too. Took me a while to think of the items below as this is a topic I don’t like talking about. College life can be quite difficult and yet fun.

1. The course of study. I can’t emphasize how important it is for you to choose a course you really want to study. Otherwise you’d most likely be frustrated as I am right now. Didn’t want to be a science student. I hate maths and yet had to do a couple of maths courses. However if you happen to be in a situation like mine, best thing to do is to maintain a positive view.

As annoying as it might seem having to learn terms you don’t exactly understand, give it your best shot and understand it’s only temporary. Some of the problems we have now won’t matter in a couple of years. You might end up being better than those who chose the course initially. Lecturers can be frustrating too but then it would end one day.

college struggles

2. New friends. Just about four of my friends from secondary school got admitted the same year I did into my university. Making friends is inevitable and finding the right type might be hard in an environment where students come from different backgrounds. I overcame this by studying people before I talk to them. Studying them gives me an insight into the type of person they are and I can then decide if I want to be friends with them or not.

However there are some friends I met before knowing them well and we are still good friends till today. Also thank God for instagram. Just have it in mind that the kind of friends you keep say a lot about you and friends will give you the help and support you need to make your stay in school and subsequently, life easy.

3. School activities. Although I was an introvert in 100 level, I did socialise a bit. I remember I contested for the post of General Secretary of CBN building but then I realise the political life isn’t exactly for me. But being in the press since secondary school, I opted for my department’s press organisation which I’m glad I joined as it has fueled my love for journalism and the media. That is the only society which is linked to The Union of Campus Journalists that I’m part of. Been part of the dinner committee for my department twice. I’ve attended a couple of events in school and I don’t regret attending any yet.

4. Being away from home. Took me a while to adjust to being away from home in my first year. I had never shared a room with strangers for a long period before. That was a struggle on its own. In consecutive years though, I shared an apartment offcampus with two of the best girls ever. Fun times then!

I’m supposed to tag other bloggers on the two posts but I think everyone I know have been tagged already. Soooo, this is an open tag for all bloggers. Kindly share your own college struggle. Thank you! The best part of posting here is your feedbacks and comments. Please leave a comment below. What are your thoughts on this?

11 Thoughts At 11 O’clock

1. One of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard in my life is “You’re so tall. How do you intend to get married?” I find it quite silly when people say this or ask questions like this. I’m just 5’9! I have female friends that are taller than me. Surely there are guys that are also taller than me. Since when did height become a problem in dating? And guys that get intimidated by girls taller than them? Not good enough. People need to change their mind’s orientation for real.

2. People who think they can just pass comments on other people need to watch it. You aren’t God and can’t create life. Can you just let these people be?

3. Just how cute is The Diy Lady and her husband. The Diy Lady is a blogger who makes use of a wheelchair and her love story has to be one of the sweetest I have heard all year. There might hope yet for some of us. Physical disability is not a limitation to love.

4. It’s funny how religion has totally blinded some people and how they live their lives. Not gonna say much about this so as not to point fingers or sound like a “sinner”.

5. Am I the only insomniac who stays up all night stalking accounts on Instagram and reading blogs?

6. Did this test on Tuesday of how much my ex misses me and it revealed he’s monitoring almost every activity in my life. How odd is that?

7. Natural hair is difficult to maintain they say. I don’t agree. Been maintaining mine for over 15 months now and I haven’t spent up to N10,000 on it since yet it is doing fine. By the way, The House of Naturals hair meet up is coming up next week Saturday. If you happen to be in Ibadan, don’t miss out.

11 Thoughts At 11 O'clock

8. Does witchcraft actually exist? Listening to some odd bird sound outside my window and I’m wondering if the bird is actually human. *sips water*

9. If you like good music, you need to listen to Jon Bellion’s “The Human Condition” album. I don’t understand the rave about Beyonce’s album though. Not digging it, yet.

10. Funny how cotton robes used to seem so mummyish. Totally gonna get more of it if I could. Go to sleep in comfort.

11. Apparently your sleeping position says something about you. People who sleep in the fetal position (knees curled into the stomach) have a tough exterior but on the inside are very shy and sensitive. Nailed it psychology. That describes me well.

Thirty Days Of Gratitude

Hi readers!
How are you today? Good I hope. I intended to put up this post since September when I first saw it on my friend Olumuyiwa Boluwatife’s Instagram page but I was not in the best state to be grateful. Quite silly of me! There isn’t any reason why not to be grateful. Existing is enough reason to be grateful. I got this pictorial guide and thirty questions were asked which provided thirty things to be grateful for. You should participate in this thirty days of gratitude challenge and see the thirty things you should be grateful for. Bloggers in the house, try this out!

thirty days of gratitude

1. The smell of food. The heavenly smell of fried plantain will probably have me feeling eternally grateful for food.

2. Mobile phone, camera and vehicles. I can’t imagine having to walk from my home to work, not having all that my phone provides and not being able to capture the wonderful moments a camera allows me to.

3. Colour purple. Such a gorgeous and deep color. Wore purple lipstick everyday earlier this year but I don’t even use lipstick these days. Did you know purple symbolises royalty?

4. I have quite a number of food I’m grateful for but fried rice and peppered chicken tops the list (there’s this spot in Palms Mall, Ring Road, called Mozaya’s restaurant. You have to try their food out. Amazing!), followed by chocolate ice cream and fried plantain.

5. The sound of Jon Bellion’s voice. I have listened to his “The Human Condition” album about 17 times over the past week.

6. Trees. They basically keep us alive and so many artistic inspiration can be derived from them.

7. Grateful for the memory of primary school. Those were the days when my brain was hot and there was little to worry about.

8. Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Adichie. I hope to meet her someday and tell her just how her book is loved so much by me.

9. Ibadan City. There is no place like home you know? I’ve seen this city grow from a nowhere to somewhere. The culture and spots here makes it so hard not to love it.

10. The taste of chocolate. How can this taste bring so much happiness to me? It’s incredible.

11. Grateful for Christmas. Basically that time of the year when love and good tidings flow.

12. The texture of cotton. There’s just this nice feel to it that makes it nice to touch.

13. Grateful for my writing ability. I’m glad I find it easy to spin off stories and poems from situations.

14. The sight of family. I’m grateful I get to see my family members everyday happy and fine.

30 days of gratitude

15. Raining season. The smell of the earth after it rains warm my heart plus the sound of the rain is awesome. I used to dance in the rain when I was younger and would still do it if I could.

16. Grateful for every part of my body especially my brain, the power tower of my body.

17. The knowledge of photography and blogging.

18. Quite a tough one. Photography is art though so I appreciate every photo ever taken by any photographer that shows what photography really is.

19. God’s touch in my life.

20. Everyone making me a better person at the moment.

21. Basically the hymn “Nearer my God to thee”. I love the words of the hymn so much.

22. The story of President Obama who had a dream and did accomplish his goals with determination.

23. The marriage tradition of the Yoruba people of South West Nigeria. Quite spectacular.

24. The challenge of being a serial entrepreneur.

25. Around 5pm on October 6 when I got a miracle regarding an issue I was worried about.

26. Photography and writing again.

27. My mobile phone.

28. Heard about an accident that involved two corpers that had passing out parade today but died on their way home. Grateful I’m still alive.

29. My sister and Olanrewaju Nifemi (such a loyal friend).

30. Writing yet again.

There you have it! Thirty things I am super grateful for. What are you grateful for? Comment below! The best part of posting here is getting your feedback and comments. What are your thoughts about this post?

Current Situation :)

Hi readers!
Been a while I did the current situation post. Check out the first I did here. This post is just an update of what’s going on with me currently. Doing an open tag for anyone who might be interested in putting up their own current situation on their blog. Would love to know what’s up with you so go ahead and post your answers.

current situation

Can we spare a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Yoruba traditional look?

Current age: 18 years, 11 months.

Wearing: Layered outfits with jeans. So in love with layers right now. I could basically throw on a sweatshirt or normal shirt on a top everyday now. Tried it twice this week and I loved it. Still in love with flats too. I’m such a big fan of casual outfits.

Current natural hair age: 13 months 15 days. Made it over a year but I’m not exactly feeling proud enough to put up the pictures of my mane.

Current hair situation: Rocking Marley braids, a girl’s favorite shortcut.

Current favorite lipstick color: Still burgundy. Tried other colors but I keep coming back to burgundy and purple.

Current favorite accessory: Still bracelets. My wrists just can’t be empty.

Current favorite movie: Now You See Me 2 (You need to see this movie)

Current favorite Nigerian author: What’s the name of the lady that wrote Everything Good Will Come? *scratches head* Just kidding. Sefi Atta is awesome.

Current foreign author(s): Still Sidney Sheldon, James Patterson and Nicholas Sparks (Do read If Tomorrow Comes, 1st To Die and Dear John)

Admiring: Tonye Igbani, she’s such an awesome person. Her smile is beautiful and she’s a cool blogger. Admiring Mide Wey (@mide_wey) on the photography level. I basically admire everyone that is consistent in their work.

Wishing: I was a graduate already. Like undergraduate year seems to be taking so long. I know being a graduate means more responsibilities but can we get to that part on time?

Determined to: Do my best in my exams and to create more. I’ve got so much I want to create.

Craving: New clothes! Plus Gafa Sandals Well my birthday is coming up soon, sooooo help a girl out? I love surprises.

Current favorite food: Still dodo i.e fried plantain (never changing). In love with everything Halima makes too. Check out her page for awesome weekend dishes @medleys_uch

Current favorite candy: Snickers (never changing). Generally a sucker for chocolate but the nuts in Snickers makes it taste better.

Finding exciting: How better I’m getting at photography. Moving forward and getting better. Check out my work on Instagram @d_playground. Excited about how better I’m getting at fashion designing too.

Feeling: Mellow. Exams are coming up and I have a lot I intend to achieve before my birthday. So much to do, little time.

Anticipating: My birthday, The Bloggers Brunch and Unibadan Fashion Week. All three promises to be fun and I really can’t wait to meet some of my favorite bloggers at the brunch plus the amazing designs the students of my university will showcase. I’ve got a feeling the fashion show would be lit!

Happy about: Being alive, being female and being loved.

Appreciating: God, My family, my best friend Eji, good friends and everyone supporting me as a person and helping me grow.

Inspired by: God, My best friend and things around me.

Planning to: Focus more on my blogging, writing, photography, being more of a better person and closer to God.

Loving: The offshoulder trend, the color black, sandals, red velvet cake and Jon Bellion.

Regretting: Being a science student. But then all things work together for the good of they that love God.

Unsure about: How the year would end. For real, I’m so skeptical about myself and things that might happen. Praying for positive things though.

Reading: Course materials and other textbooks. I should finish up The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks soon. Check out my review about him here.

Listening to: Human by Jon Bellion. I can so relate to the lyrics of the song.
