Casual Street Style Featuring o21 Designs

One term that defines my type of style best is casual and if you randomly run into me in public, you can bet on me having jeans and a T-shirt on except on Sundays and special occasions. Through the course of being a student, having to go for lectures made casual style almost too convenient and I must say I have become used to it. Today’s blog post is about casual street style featuring o21 designs.

o21 designs is a Nigerian brand into graphics, corporate branding, customized T-shirts and creating creative solutions. They are based in Lagos Nigeria but however provide deliverable items. They make branded items such as mugs and souvenirs as well, on both small and large scale.

Custom T-shirts design started in the early 1950s when some companies in Miami started decorating T-shirts with the names of local resorts and other tourist attractions. Custom T-shirts in recent times are used as a medium of expression and passing information through which individuals can express their political and social views, advocate for causes, or just to amuse people.

Still journeying on the natural hair lane, this T-shirt had my heart with the caption. The quality is top notch and it is super comfortable. This caption says everything, answering questions from those moments I have been questioned on why my hair is not relaxed or why did I choose to go natural. I have been natural for over two years now and honestly, there are days being natural is blissful and other days it’s just plain annoying.

My hair shrinks a lot and can be difficult to maintain which makes me put it in protective styles most times. However, I discovered leave in conditioner is super great in softening it up. It is my choice to go natural after all and I intend to enjoy the process all the way even on its bad days. Trust me, I have had some of those days in which you try out a YouTube tutorial and it comes out like nothing you watched your favorite YouTuber do. Who can relate?

I styled the inscription T-shirt with track pants which was a trend last year and paired it up with sneakers because casual is the way. The sunglasses was last minute accessory. How cute are my earrings from Nigerian jewellery brand Zivanora? You can style the T-shirt with other pants or skirt color as white goes with everything. Plus the caption T-shirt is available in other colors. Other ways to style this T-shirt includes; with a skirt and flats, with a skirt plus a jacket with high heels, with jeans with flats or sandals and with dungarees and sandals.

As an advocate of supporting Nigerian brands, I rate this T-shirt 10/10 as I really love it and would gladly order more and so should you too. Side story, the pictures in this post were all taken by my dad and he had so much fun at it that it brought back memories of him introducing me to photography when I was younger. Could you tell the pictures were taken at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos? The place is really cool and a great site for taking pictures although the bus station officials told us to keep our camera at a point.

Open Letter: Dear Future Husband

Dear Future Husband,

If all has gone as planned, it is probably 2024 and we are newlyweds. I salute your persistence and the fact that we have made it this far. I can be stubborn and annoying I know, so me rocking your surname must have taken a lot of effort.

Did you propose in the public? Did I faint? I always imagined I would. We had that moderate wedding I suppose. Was my wedding dress a stunner like I imagined? Honeymoon in Paris too? Hahaha.

As we set out on this journey of forever, I pray God takes complete charge. I have been praying for our marriage even before it happened. Why? Because being married is not easy. There is so much I have heard, read about and seen.

We will have our ups and downs and moments we’d get tired of it all but so long as you are trying, I am trying too. I am not a quitter and neither should you be.

I am ambitious husband but also a chicken. I have dreams bigger than I can imagine and intend to achieve a lot. Support me and I will have your back too.

Husband, I want to see the world. Travel to places, have a shelf filled with awards, another with books and to be a name to reckon with while impacting lives positively.

We will do a lot together love, achieve a lot. I cannot promise to be a perfect wife because I don’t know what perfection is. I can however be understanding, to communicate and be patient.

Yes, I am complicated and yet I am not. I am crazy and yet sweet. My mood swings are terrible and yet I have my fun sides. Looking forward to being goofy, naughty and yet serious with you.

When the time is right, we will make beautiful children. We will have all the time for them and raise them to be the best of what they want to be. I look forward to having cute children that are artistic and yet smart, a combination of the both of us. We will raise them well and growing old together would be fun.

Yes, your wardrobe is our wardrobe. I cannot promise I won’t wear your clothes more than I wear mine. Can’t promise not to get mad if you complain books litter the house. I will support you and be your biggest cheerleader. But I cannot promise not to kick you out of bed in the middle of the night or be an attention hoarding somebody.

I cannot make promises really as I don’t know how life would actually play out. Things won’t be perfect always but so long as the vow to stay together binds us, we will work things out. I look forward to being married to you.

Yours sincerely,
Wifey.

Open Letter: Dear Future Me

Hey loves!
I read a dear future me post on Journal Three Sixty’s blog. I liked her post and she did an open tag for those who might be interested in writing the post. If you’re reading this, I tag you. Just in case you’d like to join in.

Right now, I really don’t want to grow up but since it’s inevitable I might as well look forward to what my future self would be like.

Dear future me,
How are you? Much better than I am right now I bet. Remember those issues that seemed like a big deal back in college? They don’t matter now yeah? I told you they wouldn’t.

Did you eventually meet the guy of your dreams? Or he is someone who has been there all along? I bet he’s someone who was worth the wait. And he made you forget all that ever happened to you in the past. I bet he cares so much and listens to you. Perhaps he shares a lot in common with you and supports you every step of the way.

Did you get to publish your first book? You so much wanted to do that. Perhaps you’re a known writer now, like Chimamanda Adichie or a poet like ‘Tolu Akinyemi. Did you make it to Paris? Dance under the Eiffel tower? You’ve probably travelled to a few places you wanted to. Perhaps sunbathing in Cape Town with Blessing.

I bet a lot of people are wearing clothes you designed or made now. You’re probably a better photographer too and people yearn to hear you speak or recite poetry. Or perhaps you went for the modelling career. Did you learn to swim yet? I bet you chickened out. You’d blow me away with your awesomeness now.

How’s your hair now? Did your Afro eventually reach waist length? And your face, spotless now? I wonder if you’re above 6 feet in height now. Do you still cry when you think of how life is? And is plantain still the best food ever to you?

Dear future self, are you happy? I really want you to be. You’ve been through so much and deserve all the happiness you can get. If you’re not happy, please make yourself happy. I hope your dreams are coming true and you’re positive about what’s yet to come. This post might be my silliest post yet but I love you future self and I’m already proud of who you’d turn out to be.

Stay awesome

Yours in love,

2016 me.
