Lessons From 2016 + Giveaway Winners

Happy holidays! Hope you had a lit Christmas and you are all having a jolly end of the year. I am not exactly having the best. While I was anticipating Christmas with so much happiness two weeks go, little did I know a fever was building up. On December 22, I had a slight headache which turned into a fever I am just recovering from. You can’t cheat the body they say. I did stress myself a little this year and I’m glad I’m back to posting here.

Follow her @debwritesblog to read some of the hilarious and thoughtful answers. The year is almost over and I’m sure we all learned lessons from 2016.

2016 was a year full of ups and downs but going over it, there are some bits I learned.
1. Love yourself. Many of us have our heads stuck in so much work and the such that we hardly have time for ourselves. I can count the number of fun times I did this year which really isn’t good enough. One of the lessons from 2016 I realized is life really is short. Taking time out to unwind would be top ten of my things to do next year. Also in decision making, if the choice you’re making isn’t going to make you happy why not make another?

2. Be better. There is no such thing as impossible unless you want it to be. No one can limit you except you. This year taught me that. Go for your dreams regardless of how scared you are. Also, tough times don’t last, tough people do. This is a mantra my father quotes every other time. 2016 indeed taught me that. Thank God we don’t look like what we’ve been through.

3. Cut them loose. Some friends are just in our lives without really adding any importance or value but steadily monitoring our progress. If your friends are not ready to go all the way for you, cut them loose. 2016 taught me that even those you think got your back will leave when you need them most. There is hardly anyone that is dependable except the genuine friends. God help us! Keep in mind that family is everything.

4. Anything can happen. Trump wins the election? Angelina and Brad gets a divorce? More conflicts in Aleppo? Mbok anything is possible now. It’s like I will contest for the presidency sef. History was made over and over by several people this year. If 2016 is not a lesson that anything is possible, I don’t know what is. One of the major lessons from 2016 we should keep in mind.

5. Love is overrated. Hahaha most of these romance movies lie. Love isn’t mushy and perfect as they paint. 2016 taught me love is complicated, very complicated. By the way, I saw the Wedding Party movie and it is great. Still doesn’t change my opinion of love though. You find love, only to lose it when you think you couldn’t be more happy. Anyway, to those who love favored in 2016, I am so happy for you. By the way, Serena Williams is finally engaged to Alexis Ohanian! Whoop whoop!

6. Be yourself. Honestly, life is too short to be anything other than who you really are. This was one thing I focused on in 2016. You don’t have to wear make up or fancy clothes to fit in if you don’t feel like. I know I stuck to that principle this year and I got to feel good about myself.
This post is getting too long I reckon. I really have a lot to say but will put up another post as soon as my head completely clears, still got an headache. Those are some of the important lessons from 2016.
